Career Development
Individual appointments are available for you to meet with a career counselor to discuss your personal career path one on one. Whether you are researching career options, starting a job search, or pursuing further education, you can find guidance in the Career Services office. Typical issues presented by students include: selecting/changing a major; deciding on a career path; locating an internship; developing a resume; gaining interviewing skills; job search strategies; researching companies or schools and programs; writing application essays; and choosing between job offers.

Call the office (758-3710) to schedule an appointment, or to inquire how a career counselor can be of service to you.
Workshops
Workshops are scheduled throughout the year on a variety of topics geared to meet your career development needs. Workshops are group-oriented and provide information on resume writing, interviewing skills, pursuing further education, and job searching. New workshops scheduled for this year include Netscape to Networking, Building a Career Portfolio, and Networking and Informational Interviews. See the Calendar to check which events are taking place this week. Career Counselors are also available to present information to clubs and organizations, residence halls, athletes, and Greek houses. Contact Career Services early if you wish to book a speaker for your event.

Mock Interviews
Do you know what a Behavioral Interview is? Have you ever had a formal interview before? Are you a little nervous in the interview setting? Are you pursuing further education? A mock interview can give you the practice you need to shine in your next interview. A career counselor will interview you for 10-15 minutes on videotape, and afterwards review your interview style with you. Feedback on positive behaviors as well as potential improvements will be offered. You may bring your own videotape if you wish to review it again later. Call to set up a mock interview appointment and bring a resume!
LUCAN (Alumni Database)
The Lehigh University Career Advisory Network is a group of thousands of alumni volunteers. These individuals have agreed to act as advisors to current students, graduate students, and alumni seeking information about career paths and specific industries. The database is searchable by job titles, industries, and locations, and will yield a number of individuals who share your career interests. A career counselor can help you to contact alumni appropriately via writing and phone calls for networking purposes. Contact 610-758-3716.
Resume and Cover Letter Critiques
You may drop off resumes to be critiqued in the Career Services office, Rauch Business Center, Suite 484. A career counselor will critique it and your resume will be ready for pick-up within 2-6 days depending on the time of year. Individual appointments can be made to personally review your resume with a counselor. If you have not written a resume before, encouraged to attend a Resume Writing Workshop first, and then submit a first draft at the front desk for the first critique. Check the Calendar for Resume Writing Workshop dates and locations.

Counselors can critique cover letters or networking correspondence, and these may also be dropped off at the front desk.
Peer Educators
The Peer Educator Program is a special service to undergraduates, graduate students, and alumni who would otherwise wait for an appointment with a counselor. Peer Educators are volunteers who have been specially trained by the Career Services staff to assist you. Between twelve and sixteen PE's are available Monday through Friday should you need to drop in to the office with a quick question or resume critique. Peer Educators provide help including: resume writing, basic interviewing skills, interviewing, career and company resources in the career library, general job searching strategies, how to register on LUCIE, and other general information. The Peer Educator program is open to any sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student. Along with helping others and gaining valuable leadership skills, Peer Educators can apply their knowledge for personal career searches as well. Please contact Career Services for the PE schedule or if you would like to become a Peer Educator!
Career Fair
Each Fall, Career Services features a Career Fair for all students. Over 100 employers attended the 2003 Career Fair, with many expected to return in 2004! Come and meet employers seeking a variety of candidates; many of these organizations will be recruiting on-campus during the fall and spring semesters. Whether you are seeking a full-time position or an internship, meeting employers early can provide you with a distinct advantage.

Each year, Career Services recruits volunteers to help during the Fair. Opportunities are available to assist employers during set-up and tear-down, as well as during the fair itself, leaving plenty of time for you to mingle during the Fair. Every year, these volunteers make first and last impressions on the employers, and 1-2 students are hired or gain internships directly through this contact. If you are interested in volunteering during the Fair, please contact the Career Services office.
